Welcome to Algorithmic Art!

Welcome to the blog for the Algorithmic Art meetup community!

What is Algorithmic Art?

Algorithmic Art is about code making beautiful, moving, art.

This community will be a diverse friendly place to share ideas, be inspired by each other, show what we're working on, support each other with coding, and discuss what our art means to us.

We hope to inspire - artists to learn to code - and coders to explore art. We'll run tutorials, talks, and show-n-tells. We also hope to organise an annual public exhibition in a real physical venue.

This Blog

Here we'll keep a record of our meetups, ideas we had, things we learned, writeups of tutorials, and wherever possible, a gallery of some of the great work people have made with code.

It'll be a good place to search for, and find, links and resources to the great work we've covered. The meetup.com site is great for organising get-together's but not so good for writing about what we did.

If you're curious, the above image is one I made for the cover of my book using a simple edge-detecting Sobel filter applied to a Julia fractal. Details on githib: https://github.com/makeyourownmandelbrot/makeyourownmandelbrot/blob/master/julia-sobel.ipynb
